During this Behaviour Modification course, we will explore behaviourism, also known as behavioural psychology, which is a theory of learning that states that all behaviours are learned through interaction with the environment through a process called conditioning. Thus, behaviour is simply a response to environmental stimuli. In the context of organisations, studying employees’ behaviour is not a new phenomenon. However, in light of the recent COVID-19 pandemic, we have witnessed a paradigm shift in how work can be done. The transitions between Work from Home (WFH) and Work from Office (WFO) have seen changes in employees’ behaviours, some desirable, some undesirable.
In the post-pandemic era, organisations are increasingly concerned with the massive changes in employees’ behaviours. This is where behaviour modification becomes important. Behaviour modification is a technique for personnel management that focuses on improving observable and measurable work-related behaviour. In doing so, it acts as an intervention to encourage desired performance behaviour and discourage undesired behaviour. The theories learnt in behaviour modification will allow you to identify existing structures and workplace cultures as well as manage interpersonal relationships involving employers and employees.
In short, behaviour modification will provide you with insights into group dynamics and how managers can better support their staff. By applying behaviour modification skills, you will be able to support the individuals and will allow you to become familiar with your own behaviours. This in-depth course will explore the relationship between power and resistance. Understanding psychological factors and practising active listening skills can aid effective management in the workplace.
