Having a Holistic View on Sustainability
Dr Suen Chun Hui
The topic of climate change, sustainable development, and ESG has been an increasingly important topic, and has only become more prominent in recent years. As we see more action taken by government and policy bodies, changes in corporate decisions and as well as a growing voice from the ground up and NGO groups, why is sustainability critical for our future? To have a deeper understanding on sustainability and the sustainable development goals defined by the UN, we need to see how various kinds of human activities have its impact on our climate, and how they also affect the lives of people around the world.
Climate Change: What It Really Means to Businesses?
Mr Kavickumar Muruganathan
The effects of climate change are felt around the world, across all industries. But did you know that much of the carbon dioxide emissions causing climate change comes from business-driven economic activity. Business activities can also contribute to innovation and solutions to prevent, mitigate, and adapt to climate change and its adverse impacts on the planet and its people. By acting now, businesses can lower the risks that come from climate change, and even take advantage of the new opportunities a greener and sustainable future represents. This segment will address why businesses should already be taking climate change seriously and act with urgency.

ESG Strategy for Corporates
Mr Vijay Sirse
An investment's sustainability and impact on society are measured by the three ESG factors: environmental, social, and governance. By using these criteria, companies can more accurately predict future financial performances such as return and risk. Many companies seek short-term returns at the expense of long-term survivability. Due to the focus on the short-term gains, many organisations miserably fail to consider more balanced strategies while developing and executing sustainable competitive strategies even if they had created one. This segment will address the uncertainty and debate of unpreparedness in the corporate world and how to actively prevent disruptions to business continuity.

Sustainability Reporting Made Easy
Dr Asif Iqbal Siddiqui
Singapore Exchange (SGX) listed companies over the last decade have been using Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards and framework for sustainability reporting. However, along with the introduction of carbon tax, SGX has been encouraging the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) as a preferred standard and working toward a standard ESG mastics. In this emerging context, this segment will address two key points. First, what to report and why i.e., what matters to stakeholders both internal and external. Second, how to report i.e., which reporting framework to use for better communication with the stakeholders.

AVENTIS WORKPLACE MENTAL WELLNESS LEARNING FESTIVAL

Date: 25 March 2022 (Friday) | Time: 2:00pm to 5.00pm | Fee: Complimentary | Mode: Virtual via Zoom

Promoting Psychological First Aid for Mental Wellness
Mr Anil Singh
Psychological First Aid (PFA) aims to provide you with basic knowledge and skills to help adults who are affected by crises in life. These crises can be man-made, natural, and personal, and can be overwhelming for an individual to cope with. PFA is not something that only professionals can do, neither is it professional counselling nor attempting to diagnose someone’s mental state. Instead, it is about making a distressed individual feel safe, connected to others, calm and hopeful, and having access to social, physical, and emotional support. By applying PFA skills, you will be able to support the individual through the crisis and refer them to professional help with counsellors.

Ms Erin Lee
Mindfulness practice is becoming more relevant in Singapore with the increasing challenges we face in both our personal and professional lives. Mindfulness has a positive impact on improving wellbeing as well as reducing stress, anxiety and other life challenges. Modern research has found that by practicing mindfulness one can move away from negative thoughts about the past and the future and remain positively aware in the present moment.
