9/11 had changed the way government and law enforcement agencies deal with terror threats. These threats have evolved over the years and will continue to evolve, making it increasingly difficult for security agencies to keep pace. This challenge has not only impacted aviation security but has also altered the way security forces handle terror-related activities and incidents. Security agencies are constantly trying to close the gap, often finding themselves playing catch-up to terror groups.
Addressing the Dilemma: Force vs. Social Solutions
The challenge here is whether to deal with terrorism head-on through the use of force or to explore the underlying causes of terror-related activities, such as social issues, and adopt a softer approach. This course will explore this dilemma and how different approaches can impact counter-terrorism strategies.
Analyzing Global Threats and Policies
During this 2-day workshop, participants will gain an understanding of the definition of terrorism, a crucial foundation for formulating effective security policies and frameworks. The workshop will analyze counter-terrorism measures and policies from various countries, including Singapore, and provide insights into the evolving threats, such as the Lone Wolf phenomenon. Participants will explore the importance of maintaining relevant and effective security measures to counter these ever-evolving threats.
