How does Climate Risk Impact Business?

Climate Risk is no longer just an environmental or social risk. In fact, since the dawn of civilisation, climate risks have always been an integral part of business risks. Hence managing climate risk is no longer just an option but also an imperative.

With a finite natural resource and increasing incidence of weather-related disasters, the effects of climate change in destabilising societies and economies could not be underestimated. Managing climate-related risks and supporting the transition to a low-carbon world is key towards business viability as central banks and financial regulators favour investees with good ESG ratings.

So how can we manage the identification, measurement and disclosure of these risks? As emission control systems are expensive, require specialised expertise and time to use, how companies can reduce the business costs of sustainability reporting?

In this course, we will not just explore how climate changes affect business processes but also consumer behaviour, to the detriment of and the benefit of businesses. With climate risk assessments, we will be able to identify the potential climate hazards and the impact it has on your stakeholders, business and most importantly the opportunities they can bring if you adapt or mitigate them. Through identification, corporates will then be able to implement measures and build resilience against possible losses and damages.
