This programme is designed to equip participants with the necessary skills and insights to navigate this change effectively. As organizational leaders, participants will expand their strategies to manage not just a team, but entire departments, requiring a broader perspective to meet the challenges that come with such a responsibility. One major challenge for Heads of Department is ensuring that communication reaches all levels, particularly frontline team members who are responsible for executing strategies. This programme will explore ways to enhance communication channels, cut through bureaucracy, and ensure messages are clear, consistent, and impactful across the department.

Building Leadership Competencies and Shaping Organizational Culture

Visibility and transparency are critical for leadership effectiveness, directly impacting employee engagement and motivation. Participants will learn techniques to increase their visibility as leaders and understand the importance of fostering a culture of trust and accountability. Developing team leaders is also key, as they serve as advocates and extensions of the Head of Department. This programme focuses on equipping participants with methods to develop their team leaders with the competencies needed to make sound decisions and lead effectively at their level. Additionally, participants will discover the importance of shaping and nurturing the department’s culture, which involves having a clear vision, articulating core values, and regularly reinforcing those values through actions. By the end of the programme, participants will be better positioned to balance strategic vision with operational implementation, manage and influence stakeholders, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.

• Appreciate the leadership complexity in leading multiple teams.
• Know what they have to do to ensure their communication reaches to the frontline team members doing the work.
• Apply the ‘Exposure effect’ principle and leading with transparency to boost employee engagement and motivation.
• Recognise why Team leaders are their advocates, their ability to implement vision and make sound decisions are crucial, and what to do about it.
• Understand why their department culture has to be intentionally crafted, while balancing the strategic vision with operational implementation amidst managing and influencing stakeholders.
