Practical ways of Managing Behaviour and Supporting Children with Learning Disabilities

Growing Awareness and Support for Special Needs Children

The number of children and students with special needs continues to rise. In 2022, there are 27,000 students with mild special education needs in mainstream schools, while 7,000 students are in SPED schools (SPD, 2023).

With the bridging between pre-schools and early intervention centres, as well as more children with special needs enrolling in mainstream schools, teachers are now required to handle different learning and behaviour needs in class. Demand for early intervention is set to grow with more children diagnosed with special needs due to greater awareness and testing, with the numbers from KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital and the National University Hospital growing exponentially. Children and youth, regardless of abilities, should have opportunities to maximise their potential. This is when assessment tools and implementation strategy of early intervention and integration support programmes come into play as they are important for growth and development of children and youth with special needs.

How to Detect and Define Learning Disability?

A learning disability (LD) in a person is not always immediately apparent. When an educator or employer is engaged with a learner or employee with LD, it can be challenging without the awareness or basic strategies to manage this. This 1-Day Certificate in Special Needs Education is a workshop conducted for exploring and gaining insight about children of learning disabilities and delays.

This course will prepare you to provide suitable coaching and intervention for children with special needs, providing you with skills to effectively identify individuals with developmental issues.

Making a Positive Impact for Children with Learning Differences

Imagine a life where you can positively impact the lives of children with autism, dyslexia, ADHD, Down syndrome, and other special needs. Many people and parents are missing out on rewarding experiences because they struggle to understand the world of special needs and assume it is too difficult. In an environment with children or youths with special needs, how do you make it an ideal place for optimal development and growth. Besides creating an appropriate environment, it is also crucial to understand and practice managing special needs individuals and interacting with them in different settings.
