(PSC) Course Overview

This course is in partnership with CCTP which grants the CPSC certification and maintains it as the recognized standard of excellence for competent security and law enforcement professionals.

This PSC course is a preparation course to ensure that every CPSC applicant meets eligibility criteria for the CPSC exam. It provides demonstrable proof of knowledge, skills, and experience of defined areas within the scope of practice for the Physical Security Consultant. Physical Security Consultants provide advice on security measures in order to reduce threats, vulnerabilities, and consequences for individuals and properties from terrorist and criminal acts. The CPSC Credential is designed for security professionals who are actively consulting and who supervise the implementation of security measures as part of their organizational duties or as a service to clients.

Earning a CPSC Credential will demonstrate your competency as a Consultant in 4 main domains, namely: Assessments & Audits, Physical Security Planning and Design of Security Solutions, Project Implementation and Managing the Security Plan’s Effectiveness.

Fee is NOT inclusive of Exam. Learners will be required to register with CCTP directly to take the Exam

(PSC) Course Domains

Domain 1: Assessments and Audits (20%)

Task 1 Risk Assessment – Effective Assessments and Audits require accurate Risk Assessments of potential risks and vulnerabilities to be done. The main elements of Risk Assessments and various methodologies to perform them are covered, as well as on-scene assessments and the development of checklists. This is done in accordance with the main standard (ISO31000).

Task 2 Physical Security Means & Technological Security Systems – This area covers all practical measures of the Security Program design and implementation. Physical measures include walls, fences, bollards, anti-ram barriers, doors, locks, safe rooms, and control rooms, etc, and the design thereof. Technological systems encompass Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems (PIDS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS). Access Control Systems (ACS), Closed-circuit Television Systems (CCTV), recordings, etc, as well as scanning systems for people, vehicles, cargo and parcels. Effective data communication systems and Physical Security Information Management and Systems integration ensure that all security means work together effectively.

Task 3 Design Team & Preparations of Technical Documents for Implementation – This area is focused on the knowledge of preparation of Tenders which includes the Contractor SOW, pre-qualification criteria, technical evaluation criteria, as well as Bills of Quantities and estimation of costs. It also covers working with project design teams and interfacing with other designers at various stages of the process. These could include the architect, electricity consultant, HVAC consultant, safety consultant, and landscaping consultant, etc.

Domain 2: Physical Security Planning and Design of Security Solutions (50%)

Task 1 Security Planning – The Security Program design considerations include crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) and security concepts such as security layers, etc. It also covers the estimation of projects’ preliminary budgets and scheduling of implementation.

Domain 3: Implementation (10%)

Task 1 Supervision – The Supervisory role includes Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR). Critical Design Reviews (CDR), Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and inspections of equipment and installations. It also encompasses the Project Management and Supervision reports as a whole.

Task 2 System Commissioning – This refers to Acceptance Test Protocol (ATP) and Technical documentation such as “As Made” drawings, User Manuals, and Maintenance Programs.

Domain 4: Management of Security (20%)

Task 1 Management of Security Program – The overall management of the Security Program requires knowledge of emergency planning for specific sites by means of policies, procedures, and security awareness programs.

Task 2 Security Program Effectiveness – The overall effectiveness of the security program must be maintained through regular sessions of Red teaming and by performing predetermined, scheduled security audits and training and exercises such as functional drills, Table top exercises and Full Scale exercises.

(PSC) Eligibility

This is just for the course alone. Anyone who is interested in this course may register. You will receive a Certificate of Completion (Awarded by Aventis), upon successful completion for this course.

• Private Physical Security Consultants Security Professionals who are in charge of physical security planning and implementation
• Government officers responsible for physical security policies and planning
• Professionals from training institutes and other agencies responsible for knowledge dissemination on physical security
• Aviation and maritime security professionals who actively consult and implement physical security measures

Professional Experience

Three years of work experience as a Security Consultant as part of, or in full capacity as part of the organization for private market and/or government agencies. Advising clients on various issues including: Security Management, Security Policies and Procedures, Security Systems and Physical Means, Security Audits and Risk Assessments etc.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in security-related field from an accredited institution of higher education OR

Security Management Training Certification from recognized national security agency or certified training academy OR

Equivalent proven experience of 5 years in Physical Security Consultancy AND

Professional Certification ASIS CPP, PSP, APP, CCTP, CSyP, CSC, RSES, SABRE or equivalent Professional References

The participant must submit 2 professional references who have personal knowledge of and can validate the candidate’s security experience, character and good standing.

Work References

The participant must submit 2 project references reports to demonstrate his abilities; this includes submitting TVRA project, Security design project, and turnkey project. All reports must be submitted without mention of client names and details.
