Aventis Executive Education in Developmental Psychology

The first aim of this module is to develop students’ systematic understanding of theories of cognitive and social development throughout the lifespan. The second aim is to facilitate students’ ability to think critically about these theories, especially in the context of empirical evidence. A third aim is to develop students’ skills in locating primary sources, and to read, understand, critically evaluate and accurately communicate the relevant information.

In this 4-Day Executive Certification program, students will be equipped to learn the following:

• Possess systematic in-depth knowledge and critical awareness of a range of core topic areas and related research in developmental psychology;
• Have comprehensive knowledge and critical awareness of a range of different research methods used in developmental psychology;
• Be able to summarise and evaluate critically theoretical developments in developmental psychology in the light of empirical evidence.

Dr Yip Wai Kin holds a PhD, Psychology, and a Master of Philosophy Psychology from University of Hong Kong. Dr Yip is a mental health practitioner/researcher dedicated to mindfulness-based interventions. With more than 10 years of experience in training, counselling and consulting, he is also a Certified mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) practitioner. Dr Yip Wai Kin and has conducted these training in a variety of settings such as schools, hospitals, community centers and business organizations.
