Today’s workplace wellness is evolving!

It is no longer just about basic safety and accident prevention. An increasing number of companies are assuming responsibility for their employees’ lifestyle choices such as diet. Diet is found to be a direct factor in causing chronic illnesses and diseases. Poor nutrition or eating habits have contributed to higher labor and medical costs in the form of absenteeism, sick leave or hospitalization reimbursements.

Employers are realizing that a lot of time is lost and productivity is affected due to employees’ health issues. Employers have noticed the increasing influence of workforce health on performance and productivity where lifestyle issues like employee stress, poor diet and lack of exercise are among the top concerns.

Not surprisingly, research has shown that the right diet does transform health and productivity. Clear links are found between nutrition and brain health. It is proven that eating fruits and vegetables not only alters brain chemistry and fosters the ability to think clearly but also enhances one’s memory. In other words, food has a direct impact on our cognitive performance!

Workplace wellness has not only benefited employers by reducing costs due to claims, medicine and absenteeism but also resulted in happier, healthier and more productive employees. If you’re serious about achieving top workplace performance, making intelligent decisions about your lifestyle is essential!
